SPFBOX BEGINS!

Hello all!

This will be a pretty quick post. I’m making it to let the authors know who is reading which book and when to expect reviews.

Here are the books Kristen has, so if you don’t see your book here that means it’s with me! We have a LOT of romances this year, more than I could give Kristen, so there will be some in my pile. I’ll try my best with them. I do enjoy a nice slow burn romance, and there have been some romance finalists that I really loved in years past. Try not to hyperventilate if you’re a romance author and I have your book, lol.

Checkmate by KD Tabith

I gave this book to Kristen because it sounds very up her alley. She’s a big romance reader and loves all things gay, lololol. From reading the description this looks like a gay romance so onto her pile it goes!

The Lost Wings by Camilla Vavruch

This one is a YA mermaid story with dragons. Kristen tends to do a lot better with YA stories than I do, so onto her pile it goes!

Cursed King by Danielle Paquette-Harvey

Ah, yes. More “steamy romance” with vampires and werewolves — onto Kristen’s pile it goes!

Hyperborea- Severed Legacy by E.M. Zolotor

This one went onto Kristen’s pile because we always split the audiobooks 50/50 as best we can, we both love to audio our books, so onto Kristen’s pile it goes!

Runelight by JA Andrews

We also try and split the “heavy hitters” books with a lot of reviews and a fan base already in place. She took JA Andrews and I took Phil Williams 😀 Kristen does not always like military fantasy and since Phil Williams’s submission is military fantasy, we split them this way 🙂 Also, Phil, you’ll be waiting for a while since military fantasy IS one of my favorite subgenres and I’ve enjoyed your work before — I’m saving it for last so just hang out for a bit 😀

ALRIGHT, so that means everyone else is with meeeeeee.

These are the six books I’ve read already! I’m working on two more but those reviews will be posted after these guys. I’ve decided I’ll be posting a few safe books first and then I’ll start posting my cuts. I’ll probably post two reviews per week starting on Sunday/tomorrow! Since I have 25 books and Kristen has 5, I’ll have more semifinalists than she will, lol. I expect she will have one or two, and I may have as many as four or five. It’ll really depend on the non-posted scores I have in the background, to hit a semifinalist spot I’m hoping the minimum score will be a 7.5 and up. I won’t be posting scores for books until we hit the semifinalists/finalist stage so hang tight!

I think the theme of my batch so far is the undead. I believe more than half of my reads so far have had undead characters, zombies, or other Lich-like characters featuring heavily. Romance also seems to be a theme this year, I’ve got a bunch of those floating around and I’m going to start reading them as a group next (after I’m done with The Treachery of Ravens that I’m reading now) because I’m kind of in the mood for a nice romance.

Thanks to everyone for your submissions this year, I’m super stoked to get through all my books and see if I find some books to rave about for years to come!

Remember folks, if you get cut, that doesn’t mean your book sucks — that goes for myself and all the other groups. Much of this contest has to do with who your book lands with and that just can’t be helped. May the odds ever be in your favor!
